We’ll celebrate summer, and the abundance of seasonal produce available at local markets by planning and preparing exquisite meals for the afternoons and evenings. If you’ve never experienced a French market, be prepared to be blown away by the beautiful presentation, the freshness of the seafood, and some of the best cheeses in the world. For lunch, we may explore the art of a picnic—finding a shady spot to eat and daydream. Dinners will be a creative and communal endeavor, inspired by the day’s haul from the market. We’ll linger at the table drinking wine and sharing stories of the day’s adventures while enjoying the delicious meals we’ve prepared together. Don’t forget to save room for the spectacular desserts that we’ll create with the extraordinary cream, butter, and flour that exists only in France.

Our adventure will be based in Fléac-sur-Seugne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, at a lovely renovated 18th century mill house (La Demeure du Moulin). The house is at the heart of the Charente vineyards on the edge of a small village on the Seugne river. There is a heated  pool to relax by during the afternoons, or sit overlooking the river with a good book and apéritif in hand.

To further explore the culture and beauty of this region, we’ll meander the streets of nearby picturesque villages for shopping and delicacies, visit one of France’s finest vineyards, and share a dinner in one of Bordeaux’ excellent restaurants, as well as a leisurely lunch in the lovely village of Talmont.

In the end, you’ll leave with some great stories, along with new recipes, a newfound confidence in shopping a market and incredible memories to take home with you.

ABOUT THE “MILL HOUSE” (La Demeure du Moulin)

Is an 18th century mill house that has been completely renovated with all of the modern amenities. The house is at the heart of the Charente vineyards on the edge of a small village on the Seugne river. There is heated  pool with plenty of outdoor seating, along with a wooded garden by the river, and a large deck overlooking the river. The house also has a large living room with piano, and a game room with pool table, darts, and board games.


Limited lodging is available at the Mill House, ranging from $75 to $100 per night. All rooms come with high quality sateen sheets and towels, and petit déjeuner. Recommendations for separate lodging are available on request.

This room is downstairs and has one queen size bed and a private bathroom and shower, and TV.

Single Rooms with Shared Bathroom

Each room has a queen size bed and TV. There is a bathroom with a bathtub and a shower that the guests in these two rooms will share.


Transportation will be provided to and from the airport and on daily excursions. Airfare is not included in the price of the workshop. The closest airport is Bordeaux Mérignac. Attendees will need to arrive on the morning of the 10th.


The price for the workshop is $2,800 per person. This includes food and wine at the workshop meals, 1 dinner in Bordeaux, 1 lunch in Talmont and ground transportation, four and a half days of workshops and day trips.  A detailed itinerary will be provided upon booking.

Because of the planning involved (and to avoid frivolous bookings) 50% of the total cost of the ticket is non-refundable, but can be used towards a future European workshop.
